Where We Collect From, and Where We Take You

Kent is a big county — roughly seventy miles from the Surrey border to the North Sea — and the service covers all of it. There is no postcode in Kent or Medway we don't run to, and no minimum distance below which a job isn't worth taking.

On the destination side, the six London airports are the bulk of the work, but they aren't the whole of it. Dover Cruise Port sits inside our core Kent area and we handle it in both directions — running passengers down for embarkation, and collecting them off the ship afterwards for an airport or a home address. Southampton, Tilbury, the Channel ferry terminals and the Eurotunnel terminal at Folkestone are all covered on the same fixed-fare basis.

What It Costs from Your Part of Kent

Because the county spans seventy miles, a single "Kent price" would be meaningless — Sevenoaks and Ramsgate are further apart than London and Brighton. In practice the fares fall into three bands, and knowing which one you're in gets you most of the way.

Heathrow runs roughly 20 to 25 miles further from any Kent postcode than Gatwick does, because it needs the longer eastbound M25 approach rather than the direct M23 southbound. Expect Heathrow fares to sit around a third higher than the Gatwick figure for the same pickup address.

Choosing the Right Vehicle

The fare covers the car, not the head count, which is why the vehicle choice usually decides the cost more than anything else. For a Kent airport run the practical question is luggage as much as passengers — four adults with four large cases genuinely need more boot space than four adults with hand baggage.

For a family of four from Maidstone, an estate usually works out better than a saloon by a few pounds and saves the argument about whose case goes on a lap. For six or more from anywhere in the county, one MPV or minibus is almost always cheaper than two saloons and keeps everyone together on a long East Kent run.

What's Included in Every Kent Booking

These are standard on every job, not optional extras or upgrade tiers. We're listing them explicitly because several of them are charged separately elsewhere, and that's where quoted prices and final prices tend to diverge.

The drop-off charge is the one worth reading twice. Gatwick raised its forecourt fee to £10 in early 2026 and Heathrow charges £7. An operator quoting £72 who adds the charge at the end costs £82; one quoting £80 all-in is genuinely cheaper. When comparing Kent airport taxi quotes, the number that matters is the total after everything, not the headline.

Early Morning and Overnight Runs

A large share of our Kent work happens between midnight and 5am, and there's a straightforward reason. Gatwick runs a heavy schedule of 6am to 8am departures, which means check-in by 4am for most carriers. Working backwards, a Maidstone passenger needs collecting around 2:45am; from Canterbury it's nearer 2am; from Dover, 1:30am.

Nothing on the rail network covers those hours from Kent. The first trains from Canterbury or Dover don't reach Gatwick until after 7am, by which point the flight has gone. For the single largest category of leisure departures out of Gatwick, a pre-booked car isn't the convenient option for East Kent — it's the only one that works.

The same applies to late arrivals. A flight landing at Gatwick at 11:40pm is an awkward one to arrange transport for at short notice; booked in advance it's simply a job on the sheet, with the driver already tracking your inbound flight.

Dover Cruise Port Transfers

Dover is Kent's own cruise terminal, which makes it a slightly different job from a standard airport run and one we handle a lot of.

Two patterns come up repeatedly. The first is passengers flying into Gatwick or Heathrow and needing to reach Dover Cruise Terminal for an embarkation window that doesn't move — ships sail on time, and a missed departure is a genuinely expensive mistake rather than an inconvenience. The second is Kent residents heading to the terminal from home, then wanting collection on disembarkation day when everyone leaves the ship at once and the taxi rank is chaos.

Both are booked the same way as an airport transfer, with the fare fixed in advance and the driver briefed on the terminal rather than the town. For embarkation runs from an airport, flight tracking matters more than usual: if your flight is late, the driver knows before you've cleared baggage, and the schedule adjusts around it.

Business and Group Travel from Kent

Kent's commuter belt generates a steady stream of business airport travel, particularly from the Sevenoaks, Tonbridge and Maidstone corridors into Heathrow and London City. Between the named towns sit dozens of Kent villages, and their fares generally fall between the two nearest towns rather than following any separate rate. A pickup from Charing or Lenham lands between the Ashford and Maidstone figures; Sandwich or Deal sit between Canterbury and Dover. A Quick Note on the Train

Worth being straight about this rather than pretending the alternative doesn't exist. Kent has an excellent railway — the UK's only domestic high-speed line, over 180 stations — but none of it reaches an airport. Every route runs into a London terminus first and back out again, which means one change from West Kent and two or three from the east.

So from Sevenoaks or Tunbridge Wells, a solo traveller with a cabin bag on a midday flight may well find advance rail cheaper, and we'd rather say so. From Mid Kent onwards, or for any group, family or checked luggage, the maths and the hassle both move the other way — and from East Kent before dawn, there's no train at all.
