What Is an MPV Taxi, and What Does MPV Mean?
How a people carrier differs from a car
A people carrier is taller and longer than a saloon, with its seats arranged in three rows rather than two. That third row is what lifts capacity beyond four passengers. Most people carriers also have sliding rear doors, which open fully even in a tight driveway or a busy airport drop-off lane.
The trade-off is simple: every extra row of seats uses space that would otherwise hold luggage. That is why MPV classes are defined by passengers and bags together — and why the seat count printed on the vehicle is not always the number of people it can take with luggage.
Easier to get into
People carrier seats sit close to chair height, so passengers step across rather than lowering themselves down. For elderly travellers or anyone with a bad back or knees, an MPV is often more comfortable than a saloon even for a small group.
One vehicle, one group
A family of six in two cars means two drivers, two arrival times and two airport charges. One MPV keeps the group together from the front door to the terminal.

Does a 7 Seater Taxi Include the Driver? Usually, Yes
MPV5 and MPV6 both carry five
The number in the name is not the passenger count. Both take five people; the MPV6 simply has room for one extra bag. Choose it when all five are travelling with a checked case.
Full seats mean a smaller boot
In a seven-seat people carrier the third row sits where much of the boot would be. With every passenger seat in use, luggage space shrinks — which is why the bag allowance matters as much as the seat count.
Child seats take a place too
Every fitted child seat occupies a passenger position. Two adults and three young children in car seats is five passengers, not two — count them before choosing the class.

When to Book an MPV Taxi — and When Something Else Fits Better
Five to eight passengers
The core MPV range. Anything from a family of five to two couples travelling together.
A small group with a lot of luggage
Four people with six cases will not fit a car, but fit an Executive MPV7 comfortably.
Anyone who finds low cars difficult
The higher seat and sliding doors make a people carrier taxi the easier vehicle for elderly or less mobile passengers.
Nine or more passengers
UK private hire vehicles are limited to eight passengers. Larger groups need a minibus taxi.
A wheelchair user who stays seated
A standard MPV has no ramp or restraints. Request a wheelchair-accessible vehicle specifically when booking.

Per person, the MPV wins
Six people from Edgware Road to Heathrow in one MPV7 pay £80 — about £13.33 each. The same six in two saloons pay £108, and arrive in two groups.
Same price as a black cab, more room
On the Heathrow example the black cab is around £80 too — but that figure is not fixed and a black cab carries far less luggage. The MPV7 fare is agreed before you travel and takes six people with five cases.
